Today we’re sharing Marianna and Matt’s destination wedding on Spetses, a wedding that exudes romance and makes us dream of the long summer days spent in love. The couple wanted their guests to see what they love so much about Spetses, so they invited everyone to celebrate the island’s natural beauty, simplicity, and Greek charm.
Marianna and Matt chose Spetses as their wedding destination, an island rich in culture and sophistication! Just a two-hour ferry ride away from Athens, Spetses island is one of the popular Greek islands not only for the Greeks who crave a weekend getaway but also for couples looking to tie the knot on a romantic and upscale island! Spetses has an arguably elegant atmosphere, mainly thanks to the Venetian mansions of its Town, which emit a vintage aura. Spetses Town, the picturesque capital of the island is perfect for endless strolls and romantic moments. With an ultra-glamorous seaside location (like something straight out of a movie), elegant style, thoughtful experiences for their guests, get set to swoon hard for this romantic celebration on Spetses island.
The couple decided on a romantic and intimate theme for their special day and it was certainly nothing short of perfection. Marianna’s bridal gown was a beautiful and romantic piece that fit in perfectly with the couple’s theme for the wedding. The dress featured a figure-hugging skirt with minimal lace embellishments, and a bodice lined with delicate lace capturing the simplicity and elegance of the gown. The romantic theme was paired together with a soft and classic color scheme including blush pink tones in the floral arrangements and throughout the wedding details.
For their wedding, Marianna and Matt knew they wanted to create a similarly unforgettable experience for their wedding guests. The couple wanted to create special moments throughout the day for themselves and their guests, giving them a taste of authentic Greek hospitality. As the greek custom dictates, Marianna arrived in the church on a horse carriage, where matt was waiting for her. It was a magical moment, with the sweet light of the afternoon illuminating everything, giving the moment a golden glow. The ceremony was full of Greek Orthodox traditions, including the couple donning delicate wedding crowns for the blessings. There are no vows in a Greek Orthodox wedding, but there is lots of confetti and rice!
After the wedding ceremony, we took a romantic stroll with the couple in the narrow streets of the town, capturing that just married glow! We wanted our couple’s enjoyment to take precedence over the stress of timelines, give them a chance to soak on that newly married glow, and embrace their love. After the portrait session, the couple hopped on a traditional Greek boat and arrived at the reception in the most romantic way – on a boat, like a movie!
Spetses is the perfect location for a wedding, an undoubtedly a beautiful island, with a sophisticated and glamorous atmosphere. We love celebrations where the styling is impeccable and everyone is celebrating with their hearts! It was one of those wedding days and we were thrilled to be there capturing all the joy and love!
