Travelling to one of the world’s and, our favourite island destination today: Santorini! No matter how many times we travel there to capture love stories, this island never seizes to amaze us. Blue is indeed the warmest colour; the backdrop of the Aegean Sea, the pebbled alleys, the breathtaking sunset. There is something new to discover, this island’s vibe is unique and couples know it!
Santorini is by far the most romantic island; fit for wedding celebrations, to engagement sessions and of course, proposals! Who wouldn’t dream of being asked to marriage in the views of Oia? Well, Yida had carefully planned exactly how we would propose to Georgia and it involved, a scavenger hunt, a song written by him and one of the most famous bookstores worldwide, Atlantis bookstore. It can’t get more romantic than this!
Wedding proposals are so intimate and personal, they should reflect you as a couple and remind you of moments you have shared together. And what an honour this has been, to capture this proposal unfolding in action in a warm and sunny day on the island. Blue and white hydrangeas were beautifully placed in the bookstore, not causing suspicion to Georgia, and the long white piano was located in the terrace for Yida to play his song.
Little did Georgia know when wandering inside the bookstore and looking around for books that she was in for her biggest surprise. Starting to discover clues she followed the leads to the terrace. Books that were about their life as a couple were placed in the bookstore and hidden pieces of shared memories were gracefully hidden in books. Georgia noticed the music from the piano and found Yida playing a song in the piano he wrote for her; the moment he took out the engagement ring and proposed to Georgia was full of emotions: there was love, faith, surprise, happiness and endless romance. Georgia’s parents joined in on the celebrations, because what better way to celebrate your engagement than sipping champagne and enjoying the views of the Aegean?
The best way to end this authentic proposal, was walking around Oia and its cobblestoned alleys and capturing the content couple against the beauty of Santorini. Bright sunlight and the Aegean blue were there providing the picture perfect backdrop for our imagery. Oia views were breathtaking as always, fuchsia bougainvillea against whitewashed houses and blue domes scattered in the area is all that makes Santorini so unique and dreamy. Capturing this beauty with raw emotions is a winning combination!
Enjoy this surprise intimate proposal and tell us about your wedding proposal in the comments!
