In the depths of winter, the one thing that takes our mind of the cold is dreaming of sunshine-filled weddings. Today’s destination wedding ticks all the boxes for a sophisticated, sunny celebration on the sweetest, smallest island of Kastellorizo (or Meyisti) in Greece, located in the eastern Mediterranean, roughly 2 kilometers off the south coast of Turkey. It’s a very small, very picturesque island with neoclassical buildings and a tremendously good looking port that always makes our hearts flutter with excitement. Persephone and James chose this lovely island for their wedding day and dare we say that the images are to die for? We love the strong greek folk character of the island and the Mamma Mia atmosphere of this wedding planned to perfection by Lorraine of Corfu Wedding Planner !
A Traditional Greek Island Wedding
Our couple wanted greek island wedding, a colorful affair with traditional greek elements and fairy lights to create a warm friendly vibe. Weddings like these are a joy to create in Greece because all the locations look very pretty to say I do! Also, the atmosphere of a Greek island wedding is always warm and reminds us of folk celebrations held in Greece during the summer months. The ceremony was held overlooking the port of the island while hundreds of summer flowers gave the loveliest atmosphere! We loved the wedding cake and the table setting! They were colorful without being overbearing and had the perfect balance of texture and summer vibrancy!
An Island Chic Bride
Persephone (lovely ancient greek name, don’t you think?) wanted a summery boho styling for her wedding day. Her beautiful flower crown and a colorful wedding bouquet with the summer florals and fruit was her dream since she was a little girl! Her tulle wedding dress was so sweet and beautiful whereas James chose a stone grey suit just perfect for the affair!
Emotional Wedding Photography
We loved how beautiful the surroundings were for this wedding and how we took our couple for a walk around the village discovering all these traditional on the island colorful neoclassical houses. Wandering around certainly has a relaxed flair and gave our couple not only the best portraits but also the opportunity to share a kiss on each and every picture-perfect corner of the little town. The wedding photographs turned out so refined and sophisticated!
A unique Greek Island
We love Santorini weddings, Mykonos for its corners and Sifnos for its delicate architecture. However, we have a thing for the unexplored wedding locations in Greece and the secret gems. Kastellorizo is perfect for a sweet elopement or an intimate wedding day our couples will remember forever. That is for sure one of our favorite wedding days ever! Also, exploring Greece never loses its charm. The undiscovered locations are so many and wherever we turn our heads we find beautiful corners, alleys, forests or beaches where couples could be joined forever! We are so happy with how the shots from Persephone and James’s wedding came out and the only thing left to say is “Cheers to the newlyweds”!
